A Day of Connection and Community: Comglasco’s trip to Kanlungan ni Maria

Comglasco Aguila Glass believes that as we go through life, we are surrounded by many people who have played an important role in shaping our lives. Among these individuals are our elders, those who are older than us and have lived through experiences that we can only imagine. While it can be easy to take our elders for granted or overlook their needs, it is essential that we show them love and respect, and care for them in their later years for they have lived long lives, and have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience. They have often sacrificed for their families and communities, and they deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity.

As we age, we face many challenges that can make life difficult. For those who are poor, abandoned, neglected, homeless, or sick, the challenges can be even greater. Fortunately, there are organizations like Kanlungan ni Maria – Diocese of Antipolo that provide hope and help to those who need it most.

Kanlungan ni Maria is a home for the aged located at #92 Mangga Drive, Nayong Silangan Subdivision, Antipolo City, Philippines 1870. The organization was founded to provide a safe and caring environment for elderly people who were living in poverty or were abandoned by their families. Since then, Kanlungan ni Maria has become a beacon of hope for the elderly in need. The home provides a range of services for its residents, including meals, medical care, and recreational activities, and the staff members are dedicated to ensuring that the elderly residents receive the love and care they need to live fulfilling lives; working tirelessly to create a welcoming and nurturing environment that feels like a true home.

Many of the residents have no family members who are able or willing to care for them, and they have nowhere else to turn. That is why at Kanlungan ni Maria, they find a family and a sense of belonging that they may have thought was lost forever. The home’s commitment to its residents is evident in the care that is provided by which the staff members take the time to get to know each resident on a personal level, learning their stories and backgrounds, and tailoring their care to meet their individual needs. They work closely with medical professionals to ensure that each resident receives the medical attention they require while also providing social and recreational activities that promote physical and mental health.

Kanlungan ni Maria is not just a place where the elderly can live out their final years; it is a place where they can thrive and it is a remarkable organization that provides a vital service to the elderly in need. The home’s commitment to providing love, care, and a sense of belonging to its residents is truly inspiring and the staff members and volunteers are a testament to the power of compassion and dedication.

For about two years, back in the days of the pandemic, Kanlungan ni Maria was not allowed to welcome visitors as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19. But now that the rules implemented during the pandemic have been lifted and pretty much everything is back to normal, the Comglasco Aguila Glass team recently brought joy and blessings to the residents of Kanlungan ni Maria by visiting them for the first time in two years. The visit began with a wonderful welcome song sung by the elders of Kanlungan ni Maria and the lyrics of the song conveyed the residents’ excitement and gratitude for finally having visitors after such a long time. As a blessing, the Comglasco Aguila Glass team brought food and groceries for the residents of Kanlungan ni Maria and prepared some special performances to entertain the residents. However, the team did not expect that instead of them putting smiles on the faces of the elders, it was the elders who welcomed them and did some of their performances. In the end, Kanlungan ni Maria was very thankful for the blessings the Comglasco Aguila Glass team provided. The visit was not just about providing material goods but also about building relationships and fostering a sense of community. Both the Comglasco Aguila Glass team and Kanlungan ni Maria took pictures of everyone as a remembrance of this unforgettable moment. The visit ended with a beautiful thank-you song presented by the elders of Kanlungan ni Maria.

The visit by the Comglasco Aguila Glass team was a reminder of the importance of connection and compassion, especially in times of hardship. The pandemic has challenged people’s ability to connect with others, but it has also highlighted the resilience and strength of communities. Through their visit, the Comglasco Aguila Glass team brought joy and blessings to Kanlungan ni Maria, and they also received a great gift in return – the gift of connection and shared humanity.
